SCHENECTADY COUNTY, N.Y. -- It's a big milestone today for a building that offers help to the community. The Rotterdam Junction firehouse will unveil its new kitchen today, after more than a month of renovations.
The firehouse served as a community center for people displaced by Tropical Storm Irene. Those given a chance to eat, sleep, and shower at the firehouse gave back by raising funds and renovating the kitchen that served them.
Volunteers say it will be good for the firefighters spending so much time at the firehouse, and for the community, in case disaster hits again.
