A vigil was held at Dana Park to remember a 27-year-old Colonie graduate. Lauren Tanski was found murdered in her New Orleans home last Sunday. YNN's Maria Valvanis has more.
ALBANY, N.Y. -- Jillian Canavan tells YNN about her friend, Lauren.
"She was just a beautiful person," she said. "No one else was like her. She was the most unique, the most talented."
Family and friends embrace one another and light a candle.
"It was a time for everyone to get together as a whole and pay respect for a beautiful girl that passed," said Pat Mcviegh.
Lauren Tanski, 26, was found murdered earlier this week in New Orleans. Friends say the Colonie grad had moved there this past October, and police say 39-year-old Henry Dolliole, the ex-boyfriend of her roommate and a man with a lengthy rap sheet, confessed to killing her.
Canavan said, "It's not fair, not remotely fair. It's disgusting. She was such an amazing person, she was so nice, I just don't understand how someone could do something so horrific like that."
"It's a tragedy, and it's tough for everybody," said Mcviegh.
Family and friends back home are leaning on each other - and the memories they have of her to get through.
"I miss her so much. I just want to talk to her again. I figured I'd see her again, you know. It just really sucks that it ended this way," said Canavan.
Calling hours for Tanski will be held Sunday at the New Comer Cannon Funeral home in Colonie. Her funeral will be on Monday.
