ULSTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- CSEA and Ulster County have come to a tentative agreement on a new, four year contract for county employees.
Under the new contract, over 1,300 county employees will see a 1.75 percent increase in their wages for the next year and a two percent increase in 2014.
The deal, which took more than a year of negotiations to reach, will also include a 20 percent health care contribution for all new hires.
"We think it's a fair agreement based on today's economic climate. It protects our members’ rights and the benefits that they have and provides a small wage increase for them to move forward," said Howard Baul, Labor Relations Specialist, CSEA.
"I'm very proud of our ability to be able to work with our work force, understanding and balancing those two separate issues, properly compensating someone while simultaneously protecting property taxpayers in this great time of need," said Mike Hein, Ulster County Executive.
The agreement must be ratified by members of the union on August 27th and by the county legislature.
