NATIONWIDE -- Saturday is National Get Outdoors Day, and to promote getting outside, many national and state parks will offer free admission.
The day is sponsored by non-profit organizations, federal agencies and the recreation industry. It is all in an effort to get more people to try both traditional and non-traditional outdoor activities.
Nationwide, more than 130 free special events are also planned, including appearances from Smokey the Bear and free fishing lessons.
There are some places in New York that are celebrating Get Outdoors Day too. To find a park near you, check out www.nationalgetoutdoorsday.org
