NISKAYUNA, N.Y. -- Town of Niskayuna Supervisor, Joe Landry, announced on Sunday that he will be running for the New York State 110th Assembly District.

Flanked by local officials and campaign signs, Landry made the announcement at Niskayuna Town Hall.

He was elected as Town Supervisor in 2007, and re-elected in 2009 and 2011. Last month Landry was endorsed by the Schenectady County Democratic Committee's Executive Committee.

He said that if he is elected, he will fight for jobs, public education, and the district's fair share of state aid.

"I would like to be that assemblyman in the 110th Assembly District who will fight for our fair share, who wants to invest in public education to compete in a 21st century economy, and who will fight to create jobs and economic opportunities. But most of all, I'm going to be asking for everyones support here as we begin our long campaign to the Capitol," said Landry.

Other democratic candidates include Phil Steck, Kevin Frazier and Tim Nichols. The new 110th Assembly district includes the Town of Niskayuna, Town of Colonie and portions of the City of Schenectady.
