With the summer movie season almost here, drive in theaters are gearing up and hoping for big business. To keep up with the times, Averill Park's Hollywood Drive In will be undergoing a modern makeover. Our Erin Vannella has more.

AVERILL PARK, N.Y. -- After 60 years in business, the owners of Averill Park's Hollywood Drive In had a choice to make: Go digital, or go bust.

With filmmakers planning to stop distributing 35 millimeter films sometime next year, the drive in has become the first in the state to make the switch to digital ahead of that deadline.

Hollywood Drive In owner Frank Fisher says the changeover actually offers movie goers better quality for the money and he hopes that leads to a boom in business.

"We hope it's going to be worth it. I think the picture on the screen is awesome, the sound is just unbelievable, so I think that in itself, that technology, I believe is going to bring in more customers," Fisher said.

The switch to digital means the drive is now home to a more than 300 pound digital projector, as well as a brand new lens and audio system. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 (http://commoncrawl.org/faq/) Profile: TWCSAMLSP
