EAST GREENBUSH, N.Y. -- Crews respond to a fire at Columbia High School. It happened around 1:40 p.m. Monday.

School officials say a dust collector machine in the back of the wood shop caught fire.

According to school officials, fire crews were on the scene within a few minutes and the fire was put out. The building was safely evacuated and students were sent home at the normal dismissal time.

All after school activities were cancelled and school officials say classes will be held in the morning.

The exact cause of the fire remains under investigation.
